Shifting Harbor - The Shapes We Travel to Reach the Bright Void
$5.00 - $24.00

A new moon casts a pale sliver on everything its light seeks. Shapes illuminate in different ways based on the point of the observer. The ship is a memory of a dream, observed in darkness; drifting slowly onward. The sun may not give a clear picture of the scene, but its reflection off the moon projects boundless possibilities in the distance.

The Shapes We Travel to Reach the Bright Void weaves a tale from fragments of time, passing through reflective spaces of grief, joy, love, light, darkness, and abandonment. It does not follow a linear path and points to growth in the shadows.

The ocean sounds in Here, Nothing is Obvious were recorded at Big Lagoon in Trinidad, CA. The fog was so dense that the ocean waves seemed to materialize out of the grey mist. The sea appeared to be calm, but it sounded like a sweeping filter of a synthesizer. The air modulated slowly with waves pattering in and out during each sweep.

The field recording from In Time, Toward the Light was captured at Cape Disappointment in Ilwaco, WA. There are a series of small ponds roughly ¼ of a mile from the ocean that are home to a diversity of animals. If you listen closely, you can faintly hear the waves break in the distance while the sun descends below the horizon of the Pacific.

The album was recorded in Portland, OR at Anchor Inn with the exception of Freezing Fog, which was recorded in Eugene, OR at Mormon Manor.

The artwork for the vinyl edition was screen printed on hand made paper. There isn't a standard jacket with a spine. Each cover varies in thickness. The paper is textured. Each print is unique. This album represents the memory of a dream and the artwork represents this idea. Each reflection differs slightly.
